    Kia ora and welcome to Y10 Food Technology. 

    My name is Miss Brown and I will be your teacher this year. I am excited to get to know you all. A little about myself: I have worked as a colour matcher, assistant cheesemaker and I have taught in New Zealand and at bilingual schools in Kuwait and China.

    This week, we will be about getting to know each other and the food room.

    • use descriptive language to describe our vanilla cupcakes ( how do they taste, smell, mouthfeel?)

    • use descriptive language to describe our vanilla cupcakes (how do they taste, smell, mouthfeel?).
    • understand the role of a Food Technologist.


    Activities:

    1. Bake cheese puffs on Wednesday in W7 and complete the evaluation.

    2. Learn the language to describe the physical attributes of food (appearance, aroma, texture and colour).

    1. Complete the vanilla cupcake evaluation. Use the 'food descriptive words' for help.

    2. Complete the cheese puff evaluation. Use the 'food descriptor words' for help.

    3. Start to learn the technological language used when following the technology design process.

    1. Update 'Kiwi Classic: Baking Kiwiana' evaluations. Review the exemplar to ensure that your evaluations are of a high standard.

    2. Begin the Y10 Bake-Off Challenge Design Project.

    3. Discuss and share our research about flour.

    4. Read and research about leavening agents then complete the practical investigations.

    This week, we will be continuing our 'Kiwi Classic: Baking Kiwiana'. 

    Success Criteria: I can/have..

    • understood what we will be doing when we bake coconut raspberry slice (this week). 
    • completed team, background, target audience, name of stakeholder, stakeholder questionnaire, arrange a meeting with your stakeholder, list the key physical attributes required for this design project by your teacher for the  'Y10 Bake-Off Challenge Design Project template'.

    Activities:

    1. Begin the Y10 Bake-Off Challenge Design Project (see success criteria).

    2. Bake and complete the evaluation for coconut raspberry slice.

    3. Email your groups questionnaire to your stakeholder then interview them in person.

    • completed all the '10 Kiwi Classic Recipe Flipping Evaluations'.

    2. 10 Kiwi Classic Recipe Evaluation assessment is due on Friday 28th May 2021 at 8pm.
