    As I said before the holidays, you will have an assessment this term- Nutrition. 

    This week we will have two Health sessions. One on Wednesday and Thursday. So please bring your devices and your books.

    Monday-  Practical session - Gym 

    Learning Intention: 

    We are exploring the context of Develop, Do, Change by listing what major food groups that we commonly consume, and analyse how they influence our physical well being. 

    Please meet in class before heading down to the gym. 

    Today we will be doing a basic fitness testing programme. Use this time to measure how long your rest periods are between each exercise and we will compare it in another session and see if any improvements have been made. 

    Note: It is important that you keep track of what you eat the day before and the morning of so that you can try keep the processes the same as much as you can.

    We will be looking at a common meal of a soldier from WWII.

    - Identify Sufficient Energy Intake: The diet plan should provide enough calories to support the soldier's physical activity level and meet their energy needs. 

    - Analyse Nutrient Density: The diet plan should prioritize nutrient-dense foods, such as fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean proteins, and healthy fats.

    Wednesday - I will be away on a trip so continue with your nutrition brochure always referring back to the assessment instructions on MHOL Week 6. 

    Thursday- Teacher Only Day

    So use this week to complete your assessment. due NEXT WEEK THURSDAY.  

    Hard copy is to be handed in after class on Thursday and the digital copy must be submitted through MHOL.

      You will be focusing on Decision Making content that requires you to develop strategies for making informed choices. You will apply this knowledge in PE by participating in a range of Striking and Fielding games. 

      For Health, you will practice decision making skills through hypothetical scenarios relating to lifestyle choices such as vaping and peer pressure. 

      Your assessment this term will be a practical based assessment where you will Demonstrate effective decision-making by selecting appropriate strategies and tactics based on game circumstances such as a Striking and Fielding activity. 

      Please remember: You will have a reliever for the first four weeks of Term 3 while I am away overseas. You will also have two Health sessions a week and one practical lesson.

      - Demonstrate team skills 

      - Identify 3 rules from Kickball

      Today, you will be playing Kickball. The reliever will mark the roll and send you down to the gym to get changed. Bring your change of gear as you are participating unless you have told Mr Mckimmon why you don't have it. I expect everyone to bring their gear or this result in having Health for the rest of the term. 

      Kickball and Longball have the exact rules however, you must kick the dodgeball and run to the opposite side and back without getting tagged. 

      I want you to start practicing thinking strategically in a team. How will you get across? Will it result in a loss? What do you or your team need to do to successfully win the game?

    EXPLORE / TŪHURA learning intentions:

    • We are EXPLORING a variety of games that will help us connect with our peers to provide greater positive outcomes.
    • We are EXPLORING risk and safety measures to reduce injury or hurt and enhance the safety of our mental and physical well being.

    Learning Intention: 

    PE-  We are taking part in a range of activities to build teamwork for a greater positive outcome during our World Cup Tournament. 

    Health- We are learning to develop an awareness of potential dangers and risks in various activities 

    Monday-  HEA 

    Success Criteria 

    By the end of this lesson, you will be able to:  

    • understand and define what Cyberbullying is. 

    • Distingush cyberbullying from other forms of bullying and understand that it occurs through digital devices and online platforms.

    You will be completing a Brainpop activity this lesson. You must complete the whole task or you will not have PE on Wednesday. 

    Wednesday- Practical  

    Based on what you have done on Monday, you will either continue with Brainpop or we will have a practical lesson.  


    Thursday- Practical

    Today, we will be playing Tchouckball in the gym. During this game it is important to be able to identify similar sports and also identify risks and/or hazards for a safe playing environment. 

    Success Criteria

    By the end of this lesson, you will be able to: 

    - Score a point with a team mate. 
    - Confidently understand the rules by participating successfully.
