    It was wonderful getting to know you during our first session last week. We will briefly cover the Global Studies expectations and then focus on the Treaty of Waitangi for this week.

    Through the Maori World View concept, we will be exploring the bicultural aspects of NZ through the Treaty of Waitangi. By exploring the Treaty of Waitangi you will about people, place (society), cultures, history, values, perspectives in NZ.

    Kia Ora Everyone

    Due to lockdown we will continue our learning with the Treaty of Waitangi. By exploring the Treaty of Waitangi you will about people, place (society), cultures, history, values, perspectives in NZ.

    If we back at school on Thursday, I will cover note taking skills with you. This will help you with your writing task in extracting facts from the School Journal

    Activities:

    Google doc: Understanding terms and definitions (Google Classroom)

    Facts: Finding and locating information that is new to you. (Use the KWL Chart on google classroom and I have also e-mailed a copy to you)

     Read Pages 1-5 of the school journal (on MHOL). After reading, write down some facts that you did not know.Use the KWL chart that I will be emailing to you to write your facts.(The document is also on google classroom. You will be completing the “L” column highlighted in yellow.

    MUST DO: CLASS COMPETITION

    - Create/ Design a mascot for the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris. Upload your entries onto google classroom. Mrs Selagan will choose a winner.

    1. Be Creative

    2. Hard copies or online copies will be accepted. Hard copies must be photographed and attached to Google classroom page.

    3. You may digital art software -such as Google drawing, Inkscape , CANVA, Pixl Art

    3. Upload entries into Google classroom by 7 September at 10am.

    4. The winner will receive their prize when we back at school.

    - Create a quiz on Olympic host cities. Create a set of 10 questions and answers on a slideshow and we will play the quiz as a class when we are back to school.

    Create a profile of a Paralympian. Follow the steps below. You are required to some research in order to complete the profile of a paralympian


    1. Pick a Paralympian of your choice. They can either be currently competing or formerly competing.

    2. Write a Profile on your Paralympian. Include information about birth,age,medals,successes, background, a picture, and biggest setback.

    3. Fill the Information in the guided template provided below in your Google classroom page.
