Chinese New Year 2022 – Year of the Tiger
1st February - 15th February
As a tiger year, 2022 will be associated with the animal’s attributes of bravery, confidence and strong will.
Previous tiger years include 2010, 1998, 1986, 1974, 1962, 1950 and 1938.

This week we are exploring the use of personification and precise vocabulary in writing.
We will craft a poem to showcase our understanding of these.

Activities:

- Once happy with it, publish the poem.

Kia ora koutou. Welcome to Term 2 of 2022!
Library: Monday Session 4.
This term, our learning context is Sustainable Living.
English learning will integrate with Global Studies, where we will explore how effective systems can provide sustainable living.
In English, we will engage in reading various materials about sustainability to get better understanding and to collect information to write purposefully.
We will learn about some effective note-taking skills, which you will be using when doing research to collect information.
We will also explore and create static image to showcase our understanding of visual language and sustainable living.
We will also kick-start with public speaking/ speeches in the second half on the term!

We have learnt two note-taking methods (mind map and outline method). In preparation for the trip, this week, you will use one of the methods to gather information about Kelly Tarlton. You will then use your notes to make a one-pager presentation for your class! Your presentation will focus on what to expect at Kelly Tarlton.
Notes will be written in your English book.
Presentation will be done online.
