Kia ora year 8's
Welcome back to Mountains whanau, I hope you have all had a wonderful and restful break and are ready to learn, have fun and grow!
This term we will be focusing on the context: The Great Outdoors this will involve getting out and about and enjoying the outdoors through orienteering, cycling, swimming and a number of team building activities and games! We are collaborating with Ms Katafono for Science :)
I'm really looking forward to getting to know you all a bit better this year.
A reminder that we will have our P.E. sessions every Monday, Tuesday and Friday - please remember your PE gear, hat and water bottle (these are compulsory). Our Health sessions will be finalised in week 2 (please bring your health book)

Kia ora koutou and welcome back to term 3! We welcome Mr Smith to Mountains whanau and he will be teaching you for the remainder of the year!
Term 3 context: POWER RANGERS
You will explore what Power means (looks like) in a variety of PE activities and sports. You will also learn a bit more about powering and fuelling your body (Nutrition). Enjoy and make the most of this opportunity to get to know your capabilities and how powerful you can be!

Kia Ora 8's the for the week will go as follows
* Monday: HEALTH lesson. In this lesson we will be examining how nutrition can affect our performance in POWER events/sports
* Tuesday: Strength/POWER circuit. This will be a practical lesson focusing on a circuit that aims to build power. This circuit will contain elements of horizontal leaps and explosive movement in shuttle sprints
* Friday: Horizontal leap measuring/game. For this lesson we will take week 3 measurements of horizontal leaps (comparing them to the prior weeks to measure progress) Following measurement taking we will cap the lesson off with a fun game

Kia Ora 8s this week will be focusing on the following
* Monday: Continuation of testing (students who were absent will take their horizontal leaps) plus testing of vertical leaps. We will aim to get this done promptly and finish the lesson with a game focusing on POWER ie (Capture the Flag etc)
* Wednesday: Strength/POWER circuit. This will be a practical lesson focusing on a circuit that aims to build power. This circuit will contain elements of horizontal leaps and explosive movement in shuttle sprints
* Friday: As you all will have completed your combined assessment by this point, we can focus on developing skills in games, ie (Basketball, Netball, Capture the Flag etc)

Week 5 - Passing & catching/rules: For this first week of the assessment we are going to be learning the rules of netball (positions on court, fouls, passing rules etc) and developing our catching & passing skills. We will cap every training session off with a game at the end to put into practice what we've learned
