ENGLISH-GLOBAL STUDIES ASSESSMENT 1
This term our focus is on “DEVELOP-DO-CHANGE” This learning has been taking place across the curriculum, however for this assessment we will be focusing on the learning that has taken place in English and Global Studies. You have been exploring the learning and commemoration of the ANZACs Global Studies. In English, you have focused on developing descriptive writing skills.
You are to integrate the knowledge and skills learnt in Global Studies and English to create ‘a moment in time’ descriptive writing piece.
Present your “moment in time” in an authentic fashion.
For the Global Studies assessment, you are required to apply your learning around the ANZACs and the Battle at Gallipoli. You will need to ensure you have used your previous learning in class and the research you collected on this topic- the perspective of a soldier in the trenches during the landing at Gallipoli.
Through your writing you should be able to show an understanding:
- of key events in the landing and battle of Gallipoli
- of the living environment of the trenches and the battles
- of the different perspectives that soldiers held about WWI and the battle.
For the English assessment, you are required to creatively apply your Global Studies research notes, interesting language use and appropriate essay writing structure to create ‘a moment in time’ descriptive writing from a soldier's perspective.
Conditions
Assessment will likely require a combination of class and homework time in the lead-up to the final production stage. During the development phase of this task, there will be careful checkpoint procedures to validate the authenticity of students’ ideas. Before assessment begins, students should be able to examine models or exemplars of different forms of written and visual texts, and have explicit teaching that makes the processes and steps followed to create the texts clear.
