Year 8 Maths Assessment 2 - Financial Capabilities (Planning & Budgeting) - Coast 2020
Investigation Context: Ultimate Survivor - Financial Capabilities
Pre assessment: You are the Manager of East Auckland Youth Group. In the Term 3 school break, you are taking the group for a vacation to Wellington. The youth group organisation has given you $2000 to spend on ten students and 2 adults. Each student is paying $50 on top of $2000. It is a 4 day trip. The Director of East Auckland Youth Group has made you in charge of planning the vacation and making bookings. Plan a budget for this trip. What important information do you need to consider for this trip?
Problem: Having spent some time and effort planning and researching, you realise this trip is merely impossible; YOU DON’T HAVE ENOUGH MONEY. Your students are watching you; excitement and hope hovering in their eyes. You look towards them and say, “WE WILL GO.”
Assessment: MAKE IT HAPPEN. How will you do this? Plan and draft a budget.
Requirements:
Find a solution to the problem.
Use google sheets to draft a budget.
Keep a record of full calculations of your income and expenses.
This is a collaborative investigation task - prior thinking, research and note taking can be done individually at your own time but the actual planning and budgeting MUST be done in class in a collaborative setting.
COLLABORATION = Shared responsibility + Clear communication + Commitment + Peer support
