9OED Assessment 1 - Bike Safety

Our focus at the end of term 1 and start of term 2 in Outdoor Education has been bike safety. We have been learning about bike equipment checks and maintenance, hazard identification and risk management/elimination.

This assessment will take place in three parts - 1 practical and 2 theory. 

1. Bike equipment safety demonstration - this practical task will require you to demonstrate the safety checks required to be carried out before beginning a bike ride.

2. Bike equipment safety theory - identify the safety checks required to be carried out before beginning a bike ride and explain why these checks are important for safety.

3. Hazard identification and risk management - choose 3 photographs from the 6 provided. Use the photographs to identify the hazards and describe what could be done to manage the risks.
