Weekly outline

  • WELCOME TO ART

    Hi Everyone

I am looking forward to working with you on an art project this term.  It will be a bit strange starting our term off with most of you working from home but it won't affect the project that we will be completing.

The good thing is that we can complete most of the bookwork first and then once we get back to school we can get straight into the fun stuff and create our masterpieces.
We will be linking into the Term 2 context which is all about 'Wai and Kai'. That means our topic is going to be based around fishy things like making sculptures of fish, designing fish hooks for fly fishing, drawing fish and whatever else we have the time for.

Your code for google classrooms is. iuwinrw.

Can you all log on so that we can meet up next week.

  • Week 6 Term 2

We are learning to:  follow steps and use techniques to create a fish sculpture using clay.

Fish Plan information to copy into your book

    What I need:

clay, water, toothbrush, storage container, damp cloth

    Steps

Make 2 balls and turn each one into a pinch pot shape. (try to start with two balls of clay the same size)

Stuff them with tissue paper and then fuse together with the toothbrush and water (scratch into the surface of each pinchpot with a toothbrush dipped into water.

Pull and manipulate the clay shape into the shape of the fish body you would like.

Add details like fins, tail, eyes, lips and scales to make your fish come alive.

NB:  Remember to always use the toothbrush and water to join any added details to your fish.

While you are catching up on all expected bookwork, fast finishers can have a go at drawing this fishing reel as accurately as you can.  Look at the dark and light areas and try to recreate them to capture the 3-d form.

  • Week 7 Term2

    We are learning to:

Use collected objects to create a quirky colourful fish that can hang on the wall

Use appropriate joining and decorating techniques to complete our fish art

Use paint to colour the body

Join the two sides together adding nails or wire as planned

Add colourful beads or tie colourful thread around the nail or wire additions.

We are learning to observe images carefully and re-draw them with accuracy of form and correct proportion

We are learning to look and show where the light source fall from and shade to show highlights and shadows

Using the two pictures above, copy them as accurately as you can into your visual art diary.  These two drawings will make up the level of assessment you achieve for the first section of your final assessment.

Use a 6 b pencil and put each drawing on a new page.

  • Week 1 Term 4

Learning Intention. To practise drawing animals accurately and with correct proportion.

Tasks:  Follow the google slide show that I have sent to you all for the drawing tasks required.  this week we will focus on using just pencil and pen to draw our animals.

  • Week 2 Term 4

Learning Intention:  To practise using different line techniques to create detail and form

Task:  Now that you are learning how to draw with accuracy and proportion, we want to improve our knowledge of how to use line in different ways to create details and effects.  The final drawing should be very detailed in the use of lines that you draw.  Thick lines, curved lines, short lines and long lines could be used to create your animal.

We want it to look as realistic as possible.

When you have completed your drawing think about where you could colour different areas.  Use three or five colours plus black and white to colour your animal.

  • Week 3 Term 4

    Learning Intention for this week:

    • We are learning to draw from observation using a variety of techniques and drawing mediums.
    • Our focus is on proportion, accuracy of form and detail using a variety of mark-making

This week you should have finished three drawings of animals as accurately as you can do and also complete the still life drawing you could choose from..
