  • Term1 Week5

    Kia ora...

This week we will start learning about the 555 timer integrated circuits.

    Big Idea:

    Continue with week 7 sessions

    Learning Intentions:

use a 555 timer integrated circuit (IC) to operate an output for a specific amount of time

    Achievement Objectives: Enter AO's here

    Success Criteria: I can/have...

construct a working prototype circuit using a 555 IC

    Activities:

    1. insert the 555 into the breadboard, connect the power supply connections
    2. test for a voltage between the power pins, pin 1 = negative and pin  8 = positive
    3. when a voltage has been established, disconnect the 9V battery
    4. look at the Tinkercad circuit diagram, learn the component symbols and where the components are connected to
    5. insert the components as per the bread board diagram - connection wires must be straight and flat on the board - NO SPAGHETTI WIRES
    6. the switch will be made from two pieces of hook-up wire
    7. test it, LED should be on and then off for about 1 second

This week we will start learning about Scratch Coding software. With Scratch, you can program your own interactive stories, games, and animations — and share your creations with others in the online community.

We will first explore Scratch and start learning about simple xoding and then will use what we learn to produce an outcome. Scratch is free and can be accessed from your devise at home. It is a great opportunity to learn new codes or refresh your knowledge and add more if you have played with Scratch before.

Scratch work and tutorial link will be on Google Classroom. Please access and lets have fun.
