    Welcome to Art 2024~!

The context for your start to the year in Water whānau is all about 'Safety in New Zealand and beyond'. We will be creating an Andy Warhol inspired Pop Art painting, using personalised hazard symbols.

Water Whānau context: Safety in NZ and beyond.

We will be looking into a range different safety signs which will lead us into creating our own version, in the style of POP ART. We will be referencing artist models Roy Lichenstein and Andy Warhol's characteristics into our own safety sign painting.

  • Term 1 Week 6

  • Term 1 Week 7

We will continue painting our sections. Every session we are painting, our focus is to:

    1) Paint thin layers at a time with precision, this means taking your time and holding the brush close to the bristles as possible. There are many students who are holding their brush towards the end of the brush, which results in loss of steady control.

    2) Remember, always begin painting the lightest coloured paint and work your way to the darkest! If you paint over the line using light coloured paint, you can always go over the light colour using a darker colour. However, once you apply a dark colour over where you light colour should be, this will not be fixable.
