    • My name is Mrs Hewlett and I am excited to be leading your learning journey in Fashion and Design this year. We will also have Mr Jackson working with us this year in Fashion & Design and he will be able to help us when we want to use different materials in our projects.

      We have our Learning Intentions on MHO but all our activities will be on Google Classroom. There will be work that needs doing at home so that you can use the lessons at school for making stuff.

    • We are EXPLORING how to use the correct technique for making a plain seam by demonstrating that we can thread the machine top and bottom and sew a plain seam -  zig zag & machine neaten.

    Your Key Focus should have been the Fabric Decoration research Assessment 1 and applying your chosen Fabric Decoration/s to your Tote Bag fabric.

    Welcome back to school for Term 4. 

    In Fashion and Design we continuing the work on creating our own sleepwear range - pj boxers with top.  Remember it is up to you what you do for the top - it can be a Tshirt, Singlet or Cami top. Bring your own from home or buy one from the warehouse or Kmart. Remember to choose a size that you will be comfortable in.

    We are FOCUSING on reading a pattern, pattern symbols and preparing our pattern and pinning to our fabric so that we can cut it out.

    We are PLAN /MAKING our boxers by following the instructions on GC, the cards in class and checking with the teacher. (Pinned my pattern on correctly, Cut out, Plain Seam, Curved Seam, Neatening, Casing, Hemming).

    We are EXPLORING, FOCUSING, PLAN & DO on creating our own Top to go with our Boxers. We will do this by using our  EXPLORING done in Term 1 & 2 Fabric Decoration Methods to decorate the top.  

    Success Criteria:

    2. Participate in the activities in class and complete the activities on GC for Assessment 2 upload on GC as you go - re Patterns, preparing fabric and cutting out, Plain seam, curved seam, Casing, elastic, hemming.

    3. Construct your boxers following the instructions on the cards, GC or seek help from the teacher. Make sure you have submitted images of each step on GC. If you are using black or navy you may need to hand your boxers as the sewing may not show up in an image.

    Record your progress visually for Assessment 2 upload as you go for A2 on GC

    Leftover boxer fabric can be made into a quick and easy top for sleeping in / wear with your Boxer or going out in.

     If you choose to wear it out we may need to do some different technques on it so suitable for this if other people are going to see it. 

    Remember A 2 is due end of Week 5. Please make sure all your images are uploaded on GC.

    1 Lesson only - we will be continuing on our Learning Intentions from Week 1 - our focus is to make sure all assessments are handed in and we finish all started sewing projects.
