    1. Today, we will be discussing as a class recent events that have taken place and identify issues that we have experienced as a society. We will take part in a class brainstorm where we will answer different questions to observe the different experiences respectfully.

    1. Today, you will continue with the questions four last health session. Discuss with your class mates how some challenges can be more difficult to overcome
    2. You will write in your HEA books your own experiences/challenges and answer questions through google classroom.

    Today you will be on the field playing capture the flag.  I will be away with the Year 10 leaders at adrenalin forest. Please use this session to work as team to identify struggles you face as you find ways to succeed or WIN.

    1. Today, you will be watching videos I have uploaded onto Google classroom. Please watch each video and write a summary in your own words of what it means to you.  
    Tuesday (Prac)
    Today you will be on the field playing Fastball. 
    This may be a new game to you all but we will use this session to teach you on how to take part in it but also record yourself with how you achieve personal growth.
    I will be teaching basic ball drills to help scaffold each movement that will help lead you to play the game confidently. 

    Catching and passing will be our first skills. 

    Wednesday (Prac) 
    This session will be in the gym. Same as last lesson with the same sport. 

    Next drills: Drawing and passing.

    Today, you will be completing Education Perfect activities based on Stress. Acknowledging stress is an important step towards managing it effectively. Use these activities to help you identify and acknowledge stress. By acknowledging stress and identifying its causes, you can take steps to manage it effectively and improve your well-being. 

    Tuesday (Prac)
    Today you will be on the field continuing with playing Fastball. 
    Understanding the rules is a major part of playing any games or sports. We will practice a few rallies to get you familiar with the game and we can identify as a class how we can improve our performance by abiding by the rules. 

    Wednesday (Prac) 
    This session will be in the gym. Same as last lesson with the same sport. 

    Next drills: Kicking and plays.

    Today, you will continue completing Education Perfect activities based on Managing emotions and decision making. 

    Managing emotions is a crucial component of effective decision-making. Here are some tips for managing emotions when making decisions:

    1. Recognize and name your emotions: Emotions can cloud our judgment and lead us to make impulsive decisions. Take a moment to recognize and name the emotions you are feeling before making a decision

    2. Take a step back: If you are feeling overwhelmed or emotional, take a step back and give yourself some time and space to calm down before making a decision.

    3. Seek input from others: Consulting with others can provide valuable perspective and help you make more informed decisions. Seek feedback from trusted friends or family members.

    I will be introducing Term 2 content: Responsible Behaviours in Outdoor Education Activities. 

    Monday - It will be a Health lesson this session. Today I will be introducing your assessment for next term about Responsible Behaviours. 

    Tuesday - Today will be a practical session on the Kapua Basketball courts. We will play Multi Sport.

    Wednesday- Today will your last practical lesson for the term. We will play Fast Ball. Do not forget your PE gear.

    Welcome back to Term 2 of 2023. Hope you all have had a great break and ready to pump out the term. 

    Our Focus for this term is Responsible Behaviours. 

    Learning Intention: 

    We are learning how to demonstrate key responsible behaviours for safety in order to successfully participate in Outdoor Education activities. 

    Monday (HEA)

    Today will be an in class session. You will continue with your Term 2 learning- Responsible Behaviours in Outdoor Education Activities. 

    1.) Understand the following terms by copying them into your books. They will be written on the board.

    Physical Safety - this is the care one takes to ensure someone's body is not injured/hurt.  Working to protect one's physical safety means a reduction in broken bones, concussions, cuts, bruises, and even death.

    Emotional Safety - this is the care one takes to ensure someone's emotions/feelings are cared for. Working to protect one's emotional safety means that they are less nervous, anxious, frightened, threatened, etc.

    So now we know about the key Responsible behaviours (from last week) what are some ways these are incorporated into life?  We will complete an investigation into Aaron Ralston.  We will watch a couple of videos about him and answer the following questions: 

    1.)  What happened to him? What went wrong?

    2.) What did he not do ahead of his trip? 

    3.) How was his physical safety and his emotional safety impacted?

    4.) What safety behaviours should be demonstrated and how would such a demonstration alter his outcome?


    Tuesday
    This is will be always be your practical lesson and we will be in the Kapua.
    We will be focusing on the Responsible Behaviour- Teamwork for the week. So you will participate in a series of activity that require you to demonstrate Teamwork such as Bench crossing 

    Wednesday 
    This will always be your practical lesson and will be on the Kapua Basketball courts. 

    Today you will be playing Capture the Flag, keeping in mind that Teamwork is the behaviour to be demonstrating.

    - understand the template of how to explain and describe your actions based off your actions. 

    Today, you will be practicing your write up based off of last week's practical lessons, focusing on TEAMWORK. 

    I will put up a template that will help you start your write up.

    Practical lesson and we will be in the Kapua- Basketball courts.

    We will be focusing on the Responsible Behaviour- Co operation for the week. So you will participate in a series of activities that require you to demonstrate Cooperation such as Shelter building in Tāne Forest. 

    You know the questions that will help you with your write up for the assessment, please keep those in mind so that you are able demonstrate it therefore discuss it in your write up. 

    Wednesday - Practical
    This will always be your practical lesson and will be on the Kapua Basketball courts. 

    Today you will be playing mini games that require you to demonstrate Cooperation.

    We will be focusing on the Responsible Behaviour- CARE OF EQUIPMENT for the week. 

    You know the questions that will help you with your write up for the assessment, please keep those in mind so that you are able demonstrate it therefore discuss it in your write up.

    Practical lesson and we will be behind the gym and we will be doing a short tramp to point view. Please bring comfortable shoes and don't mind getting dirty. 

    We will be focusing on the Responsible Behaviour- SELF MANAGEMENT for the week. 

    You know the questions that will help you with your write up for the assessment, please keep those in mind so that you are able demonstrate it therefore discuss it in your write up. 

    Wednesday - Practical
    We will be out on the Kapua today- basketball courts. 
    Today, you will take part in a few games where you will need to take responsibility for your own actions. And keeping the safety aspect a part of it.

    Today, I will give you a scenario and you will base your write up off of it. Take into mind everything that we have covered in class especially physical and emotional safety.

    Practical lesson today however we will stay in class and take part in activities that require you to demonstrate APPROPRIATE COMMUNICATION. 
    Our main activity for today will be a class debate where I will put statements up on the board and you will decide whether or not you agree and state your reasoning respectfully. 

    You know the questions that will help you with your write up for the assessment, please keep those in mind so that you are able demonstrate it therefore discuss it in your write up. Especially finding areas you would demonstrate emotional or physical safety. 

    Wednesday - In class 
    We will stay in class to prepare yourselves for our NCEA Wero Trip next week Wednesday. 
    Also, you will use this lesson to let me know what Responsible Behaviours you will demonstrate at Wero.

    Monday - I will use this lesson to catch up with those who have not yet completed a write up for your assessment. Everyone else that completed this, you will discuss and brainstorm in and amongst our group what our context means " Our actions can unite OR divide our communities " 

    You will share this with other groups in the class.

    Tuesday - Practical session. 

    I will introducing cultural games for next term. You can use now and the holidays to research games that may have originated from your home land whether it was our common sports such Rugby or Football or traditional games such as Kabaddi or Ki Ō Rahi. 

    Today we will be playing Ti Uru on the Kapua Basketball Courts. 

    Wednesday - Today I will going over content/ expectations for the first four weeks of Term 3 while I am away.

    You will be focusing on a range of cultural games that may stem from your cultural upbringing or background. This will lead into our assessment for the term which will be demonstrating your understanding of Ki Ō rahi

    For Health you will be focusing on Sex Ed for the first four weeks and moving onto Politics/ Women in Sport when I return back to school. 

    Please remember: You will have a reliever for the next four weeks while I am away overseas.
     You will also have two Health lessons per week and one practical lesson.

    Today, I will be introducing you all to Kī Ō Rahi. Over the rest of this term, you will be taking part in modified games that will have the same movements and rules that will help you scaffold your understanding of the game when we eventually participate in it. 

    This assessment will take part early next term, so there will be plenty of time to practice and develop a clearer understanding of this new indigenous game. 

    You will also be starting with Athletics too. Keep an eye out for this. 

    Today, we will start with the Pūrakau(story) of the game and the history. So meet in C11, this will be an in class session. 


    Tuesday- Practical 

    Success Criteria 
    By the end of this lesson, you will be able to: 
    - Identify key points from the pūrakau of Kī Ō Rahi and relate it to the game. 

    Although today's practical is not Kī Ō Rahi itself but I will be creating small games that involve similar movements and rules. 
    You are required to bring full PE gear. So meet in class to mark the roll then heading down to get changed. 

    You will be playing a modified version of Kī Ō Rahi, so bring your gear. This is a complex but extremely fun sport.  


    Friday- Practical 
    We will be continuing with the modified version of Kī Ō Rahi.

    - How did you feel when you first learned about Ki-o-rahi? Were you familiar with the game before, or was it a new experience for you?
    - What did you find most interesting or surprising about the history and cultural significance of Ki-o-rahi in Māori culture?
    - Is there anything in the story that is familiar to you? Something at home? School? 
    Ki-o-rahi is a traditional Māori ball sport. What do you think this sport might entail, and what cultural elements do you expect to encounter while playing?
    -Have you ever played or watched any indigenous sports or games before? How do you think Ki-o-rahi might compare or contrast with those experiences?
