FOCUS / ARONGA learning intentions:
- We are FOCUSING on developing functional skills in mathematics such as reading timetables, maps etc
- We are FOCUSING on solving problems involving speed, Distance-time graph, trigonometry.
EXPLORE / TŪHURA learning intentions:
- We are EXPLORING to recognise the appropriate units of measurement.
- We are EXPLORING to calculate the distance and time to a given location on our Journey.
- We are EXPLORING to connect the functional skills in mathematics such as reading timetable, chart and calculating speed to our context " The Journey"
This term our context is " The Journey". As part of this context we will explore mathematical concepts and functional skills needed as part of any journey- Reading timetables and charts, understanding units of measurement, Distance-time graphs and moving into Algebra.
Paearu Angitu / Success Criteria: I can/have...
- Interpret timetables and charts.
- Identify units of measurements.
- Convert between units of measurement.
Hei Mahi / Activities:
- Label the books.
- Go through rules and routines.
- Complete the functional skills question from Dr Frost- Reading charts and timetables.
- On Dr Frost, go to Secondary _ Shapes & Measures_ Convert between units _ Unit 324_ Convert between units of area and volume using multiplication and division.
Mahi Kāinga / Homework:
Maths Buddy
