This week we are continuing with our study of Mise-en-scene. Last week we completed looking at the first two element of mise-en-scene: settings and props; and costume, hair and makeup. This week we will be looking at the next element of mise-en-scene: Lighting and colour.
WE ARE LEARNING TO IDENTIFY AND EXPLAIN HOW LIGHTING COMMUNICATES MEANING IN VISUAL TEXTS
In pairs, select five images from those provided and identify the lighting used, the colours present and analyse the impact / effect of them on the viewer. Focus specifically on the mood / emotion that the lighting and colour creates in you and explain how and why it has this effect.
You will know you have been successful when you have:
- taken notes using the Cornell Method on lighting and colour
- participated in a class analysis of a visual text
- worked effectively in groups
- completed the shared google doc on lighting and colour
- analysed the lighting and colour of a range of images that align with your assigned genre
- explained the effect of the lighting and colour on the mood and feelings created in the audience
