    FOCUS / ARONGA learning intentions:

    • We are FOCUSING on choosing the correct technique/s to use on our boxers

    Success Criteria:

    I can/have practiced the techniques needed to place my pattern on my fabric and had it checked by the teacher and then I have cut it out.

    I can/have constructed my boxers using the new techniques I have practiced.

    PLAN & DO / WHAKAMAHI learning intentions:

    • We are PLANNING out the correct order to construct our boxers
    • We are making/constructing our boxers using the new techniques we have learnt in Explore and Focus.

    Activiites

    1. Complete the activities on GC - Measure Me, Pattern Symbols, Pattern envelope/ How to place your pattern on fabric.

    2. Choose your pattern size based on your findings in Measure Me.  Prepare your fabric correctly. Place your pattern on the fabric. Get it checked by the teacher and cut it out.

    3. Read the instructions how to make PJ Boxers on GC or use the order below. You can choose the order you do Step 3 and 4.

    4. Construct your boxers: 

    First Step:   Sew curved front and back seams - using a Plain seam  with a 1.5cm wide seam allowance. Sew a second row of stitching 2 mm inside of the first row. Trim seam allowance back to 5mm and zag zag edges together. Press both seams flat.

    Second Step: Pin your side seams together - back to front - starting at the top.  Show the teacher in case we need to trim anything off. Sew your side seams together 1.5cm - trim back to 5mm zig zag the edges together.

    Thirsd Step: Pin crotch seams together - sew a plain seam 1.5cm - trim seam allowance back to 5mm - zig zag edges togther.  Press under 5mm and fold up evenly to make a hem . Press. Stitch.

    OR

    Forth Step: Iron under top edge of waist 5mm. Fold over to make a casing - must be wider than the elastic. Pin in place - show the teacher. Sew from one side seam around to the top finish 2cm from where you started. Reversing at both the start and finish. You should have a gap /hole to thread through the elastic.
