Kia ora 7F2,
This week we are integrating Mathematics with Science to display and analyse the data you collected during your 'Balloon Powered Car' investigation. We will also be completing your Assessment 1 Number task (there are just two assessments per subject, in Year 7).Authentic Outcomes: Science Fair
Success Criteria: I can...
• Use Google Sheet to display data
• Analyse data using the explore function of Google Sheet
• Discuss data through a written review of 'results', and a 'discussion' and 'conclusion' statement
• Recall my basic + , - , x and ➗ factsClass Activities: Number & Statistics
1. Ludi 'Go Live' and 'Go Live for Speed Challenge' session.
2. Students will read the 'Balloon Powered Car' air pressure investigation instructions on 7F2's Google Drive.
3. Modelling from teacher: highlighting of data cells in Google Sheets, clicking 'Explore', interpreting data (sum, count, average/mean, high and low score)
4. Selection of 'Bar Graph' to display data. Discussion re: histograms (for time series data) versus bar graphs.
5. Writing a title and labelling of the X and Y axis.
6. Modelling and development of a 'Results', 'Conclusion' and 'Discussion' statement.
7. Students are to finish and 'Turn in' for homework.
Homework:
Thank you for completing your 'fractions, decimals and %' conversions', 'averages' plus 'Number Revision' tasks on Maths Buddy to reinforce our class learning this week. You also have received one 'Weekly Revision' task. The purpose of this revision activity is to keep revising the wider strands beyond Number and Algebra to maintain past learning eg Geometry & Measurements, + Statistics & Probability.
