Kia ora...students. From this week you will begin to research one tourism destination in New Zealand, that may require support to recover from the economic effects of Covid 19. You are to plan and create a brochure that exposes the beauty of this landscape and discuss the many attractions it has to offer. Your brochure can be paper/ digital / a video or website.

Success Criteria: I can/have...

• Researched  the destinations that require economic support from tourism, but identified one destination o do in detail.
• Planned ideas that link with the destination, its activities and how to promote.
• Consider ways that will allow tourism participation to also respect covid 19 restrictions
• Designed my brochure either on paper or digitally
• Worked effectively as part of a team to achieve this task 

Activities:

1. Do now Activity: Look at the globe and where tourism is back in action. Why do you think this is so? What is positive and negative about tourism jump started in some locations in the world? Give your views. See images on board of current tourism practiced in the world.
2. As part of your team, research the many places in New Zealand that are dependant on tourism. Do you think they have suffered as a result of Covid 19. Explain how?
3. Choose one destination, to research in depth that offers beauty, culture, sports, adventure tourism and many other attractions that can promote Tourism.
4. Also research  the options of how people can travel to this destination, as well as around the location. For this you need to research   flights, trains or possible fuel costs.
5. Research the types of accomodation that is available  in this destination. From camping/ budget to luxury. So that you are targeting different types of tourists.
6. Also, research and offer an experience that is unique or different in your location that will be a draw card for tourism eg: Is it a glacier walk, tramping across a volcanic field, cultural show, adventure sports like jet boating or para-glading. 
7. Explain ways for tourists to be safe during the covid pandemic, as they travel through to your chosen destination.
8. Once your research  is completed, begin to Plan your brochure.For this think of layout designs or templates you can use. Use bold colours for titles and texts, attractive clear images and quality information.
9. Thereafter, begin to CREATE/ DESIGN YOUR BROCHURE. See brochures that are available  online to inspire your with the design and layouts
