  • Kia ora...students. for week 6, ie Thursday and Friday only: you will examine the living conditions at refugee camps as well as the many struggles refugees undergo.We will look at Survival camps/ food/ medicine and opportunities presented to Refugees.

    Learning Intentions: We are learning to (WALT)...

    • examine what refugee camps look like
    • examine the hardships and struggles refugees face from day to day
    • determine the role of children living in these conditions.
    • explore where their basic needs like food water/ clothing come from
    • to determine if they try to escape this so called safety zone.

    • examine in -depth the living conditions of refugees at refugee camps

    Activities:

    2. Research the many struggles refugees face on a daily basis. Consider how woman and children have difficult as well
    3. Research what ammenities and supplies are given to refugees. Research what is Survival food/ Camps and medicine. What do these look like/ who provides it to refugees and research  why some of these survival foods are priority.
    4. Research how do they escape form these camps and where do they go. Think of boat people and the impacts when they arrive in a foreign land as illegal immigrants.
    5. Why are most international communities against accepting illegal immigrants
    6. Research how many refugees New Zealand takes in each year. Where do they stay and what support are they given.
    7. Show images and graphs to support your discussions.
