    Kia Ora Y7.  This week, we continue to write our speech using the given template. Our speech must be completed by the end of the week. W e will complete our comic work as well this week. 

    Also, we have easTTle reading this week:

    Big Idea: Life In and After Lockdown

    Activities:
    -Complete speech writing.

    -Complete comic making.

    -easTTle Reading Test.

    Learning Intentions: (We are learning to...)

    We are exploring....... the elements of Visual Language by observing and understanding symbols and examples We are exploring.......Visual Language by applying its elements to construct a comic based on Big Ideas of the context (Life In and After Lockdown)
    We are exploring....... the connections between oral, written, and visual language by creating a visual text (Lockdown Comic) 

    We are exploring....... the elements of Verbal Language by understanding and applying content, language, and text forms in our speech

    FOCUS

    Focus....... We will create a Comic (Visual Text) by applying  the elements of Visual Language and integrating it with our experiences during and after Lockdown
    We are FOCUSED.....on developing our understanding by identifying a range of important lessons/experiences from lock down/ Life After Lockdown
    We are FOCUSED.....on effective public speaking by understanding, discussing  and applying the features of verbal language, body language and making an oral presentation.
    We are FOCUSED..... on expressing our ideas, opinions and thoughts on our chosen topic by planning and constructing our speech.

    Success Criteria: (I can)
    -use an increasing understanding of the connections between oral, written and visual language when creating text (Comic & Speech)

    - apply various features of Visual Language in my Comic from the given list such as:
    Dominant- Image , Colour, Texture, Shape, Symbolism, Lettering/ Font, Proportion, Layout, Rule of thirds Negative-Space,  Logo, Panels, Emanata, Gutters, Bleed, Speech Bubbles, Thought Clouds, Narratory Block, Sound Effect, Caption, Label, Close Up, Long Shot, Reverse etc. 

    -form and communicate ideas and information clearly, drawing on a range of sources to show increasing awareness of a range of dimensions or viewpoints. (Comic & Speech)

    -construct texts (Comic & Speech) that demonstrate an understanding of purpose and audience through deliberate choice of content, language, and text form

    -can seek  feedback to make changes to texts to improve clarity, meaning, and effect
    -use a wide range of oral, written and visual language features and an increasing range of vocabulary to communicate precise meaning & effect, to sustain interest and to achieve a sense of coherence when constructing texts (Comic & Speech)

    -convey and sustain a personal voice where appropriate by being reflective about the production of my own texts: monitor and self-evaluate progress, articulate learning with confidence. (Comic & Speech)
