ENGLISH ASSESSMENT 2- PUBLIC SPEAKING (SPEECH)
Assessment Overview
For the context ‘ Our actions can unite or divide communities’ we chose to explore ‘Kaitiakitanga’ by focusing on how we understand our world and nature and how we organise ourselves and our resources as an important value especially for the young people today.
In English, we learnt:
note-taking methods
to structure paragraphs by supporting the main idea with several details
some persuasive techniques
viewed and analysed speeches fit for a particular purpose and audience.
You are required to use your knowledge and skills of research, planning, written and verbal language to write and deliver a speech to your peers (audience).
Assessment Task
This assessment activity focuses on the construction and delivery of an oral presentation.
I’ve got something to say…
With reference to our context, write and present a speech on a topic of your interest.
In your preparation you should focus on:
● areas of your topic that would be of interest to your target audience (teenagers).
● delivering a well structured and prepared speech that would capture the attention of your target audience,
● effective use of relevant evidence and appropriate oral language features (expressions, eye contact and gestures).
You are required to construct and deliver an oral presentation of about 2:30 minutes.
What to submit?
You will present your speech to your audience(class peers).
