Assessment 2: Substance abuse and effects
Your task: Participate in classroom activities and discussions to gain a broad understanding of different substances and their effects on society In both P.E. and English, narrow your focus to a specific issue you are interested in - Big Question. Develop a range of focus questions to direct your research After completing research decide how you are going to present your research: Speech, presentation, song, video - documentary/add/skit, poster - or other by negotiation Using time in both P.E. and English, write, design, create your presentation that clearly demonstrates your understanding of your Big Question Present your information to the teachers and your peers Your topic may branch into any of the following areas - legalisation, pro’s and con’s of different substances, history, medical, advertising/marketing, new products, comparisons with other countries, effects on individuals or certain demographics - teenagers, lower socio-economic communities etc, community resources to help people with substance problems, laws etc...
