    Kia ora and welcome to Y9 Food Technology. 

    My name is Miss Brown and I will be your teacher this year. I am excited to get to know you all. A little about myself: I have worked as a colour matcher, assistant cheesemaker and I have taught in New Zealand and at bilingual schools in Kuwait and China.

    This week, we will be about getting to know each other and the food room.

    This week, we will be starting 'Flipping Gorgeous! Pancakes Around the World'. We will be cooking pikelets on Wednesday in W7.

    • work safely, hygienically and cooperatively with my cooking group to prepare pikelets.
    • completed the 'Flipping Gorgeous Recipe Evaluation' for pikelets.

    • understand the role of a Food Technologist.


    Activities:

    1. Set up of 'Flipping Gorgeous-Pancake Recipe Evaluation'.

    This week, we will be continuing our 'Flipping Gorgeous! Pancakes Around the World'. We will be cooking buttermilk pancakes on Wednesday in W7.

    • work safely, hygienically and cooperatively with my cooking group to prepare buttermilk pancakes.
    • completed the 'Flipping Gorgeous Recipe Evaluation' for buttermilk pancakes.
    • use descriptive language to describe our pikelets (how do they taste, smell, mouthfeel?).
    • understand the role of a Food Technologist.


    Activities:

    1. Cook buttermilk pancakes (in W7) and complete the recipe evaluation.

    2. Learn the language to describes the physical attributes of food (appearance, aroma, texture, colour).
