    Kia ora and welcome to Y10 Hospitality. 

    My name is Mrs Priest and I will be your teacher this year. I am excited to get to know you all. A little bit about myself...I was born in Germany, have 3 kids, have studied Food Technology, Health & Safety and Business and lastly Teaching at Massey University, have worked in the Food Industry for over a decade before starting to teach.

    This week will be about getting to know each other and the food room.

    Kia ora and welcome to Week 7 of Term 1. This week we are making pizza on Monday and we are learning how to work out Food Cost and Total Cost of a food products on Wednesday.

    Kia ora and welcome to Week 8 of Term 1.

    This week we are starting to look into developing ideas for snack foods that could be sold at the basketball game afternoons. The worksheet is uploaded on GC.

    For our practical lesson, we will be making cake pops as requested by some of you. To speed up the process, I have ordered the cakes as we would have run out of time.

    Success Criteria:

    - I have looked into snack food options and completed a survey on how much my snack options are liked

    - I have participated in making cake pops.

    Kia ora...welcome to Week 9 of Term 1. We are continuing to plan our food outcome which will be sold at a Basketball event during Term 2. We will be starting to fill in our planning journal on Wednesday. On Monday we will be making sushi.

You will also continue to finalise advertising posters, finish the costing of the recipes (Thank you to Maddie's team, please the rest of you need to complete the "Food Cost Calculation" worksheet on GC etc.

    Furthermore, please continue filling in your assessment journals as well as the "Advertising Group Work" on GC, all part of your assessment.

    Kia ora...and welcome to Week 9 of Term 2.

    This week on Tuesday we will be making Burgers. There were a lot of burger buns and cheese left over from Sports Exchange, so we can make good use of that plus we will be learning some good cooking skills like dicing onions and making patties and knowing when it is cooked.

    On Wednesday we will be continuing on our coffee journey. We will be looking at the coffee machine and how to operate them. Maybe we will try to "fluff" up some water with soap (to imitate the "fluffing" of milk)

    Have a go and see how good your coffee knowledge is. You can also find the TAAB there.

    If you feel like baking, I tried this super simple yoghurt cake this week and it was yum. Mine only took 45 minutes to bake, so keep an eye on it. It would also be simple to substitute the ingredients, eg  corn starch could be substituted with flour. It is quite healthy too, have a look:

    Kia ora students and welcome to Week 3 Lockdown Learning. This is Week 6 of Term 3.

    This week's task is all about Awhinatanga. Please cook a dish for your whanau and paste a photo of it in your assignment on Google Classroom so I can have a look. If you do not feel confident making a dish, at least help your caregiver. I look forward to seeing your photos!
