    HAPPY EASTER!

  • 13 April - 19 April

Kiaora and welcome to Week 1 of Term 2!

I have randomly checked the worksheets from previous weeks and have sadly noticed there are quite a few gaps. Please try and keep up with the work during class time and take notes. Term 1 was to mainly help you build up your understanding of ingredients and their functions to make it easier for you to be successful in Year 11 at OSC if you chose to take Food Technology.

Please use the time this week to catch up on previous worksheets as well as the worksheet I uploaded before the holidays (a couple have already completed this, well done!). I will give you new work next week and in the mean time I will continue to check online to ensure you are catching up.

On Friday, 17th April, let's have a quick google meet chat at 9.30 am, here is the link

Should you get stuck, please do get in touch by email ppriest@mhjc.school.nz

    FOCUS / ARONGA

    FOCUS / ARONGA learning intentions:

    • We are FOCUSING...on researching function of ingredients
    • We are FOCUSING...on herbs and spices and their effect on foods
    • We are FOCUSING...on completing worksheets from previous lessons
  • 20 April - 26 April

Kia ora and welcome to Week 2 of Term 2!

We will be "parking" our Baking Science and will come back to it once schools are fully back.

Our new topic will be Food Packaging. You will find all lessons on Google Classroom (code is w3rgsxq).

Here are some points to note:

    • These lessons cover the content for most of Term 2

    • The slides are divided into lessons to give you guidance and help you with time management

    • There are 10 lessons in total. You have 2 lessons per week on your timetable.  The last lesson leads you into the assessment which requires research and completing independent work.

    • So the next 5 weeks is guided by slides and then it requires you to complete the assessment task.

    • The Worksheets often ask you to record your thoughts or opinions. Don’t be afraid to share as it will not be marked as right or wrong. It is your opinion and your thought, so it cannot be wrong (I hope this makes sense). It is mainly to help us teachers work out whether you have completed the tasks or need help.

    • There are several choices and options throughout the slides but I want to encourage you to try and pick one type of packaging and follow this through as it will help your assessment.

    • For example if you watch the manufacture of glass, I would then stick with glass.
    • Do not watch the manufacture of glass and then research the recycling of aluminium. It will make it harder for you to complete the assessment at the end.
    • If you are unsure at any stage, email your teacher and ask for help :)
