    A warm welcome to Coast Whanau. My name is Mrs Dada and I will be your P.E. & Health teacher. 


    I'm really looking forward to getting to know you all this year.

    A reminder that we will have our P.E. sessions every Monday and Thursday. Our Health sessions will be every Friday.

    This week we will focus on getting to know each other through games.
    The goal is to create a space for all students to feel comfortable, to participate in physical activity, try new challenges and contribute to class discussion.

    Kia ora 7C1, Ms Wessels here! It was great to meet you all this week and I hope that you will all develop skills and an understanding of yourself and others through our Health and PE lessons this year. I am looking forward to having fun, educational and meaningful lessons with you all!

    Remember to bring your PE kit and meet me in C3 for Roll on Thursday 12 March. We will be working on ball skills: catching, throwing and hitting targets.

    • Collaborated and communicated effectively with my team to successfully complete the the games whilst having fun

    I hope you have all had a good holiday and am sure you cannot wait to get back to school to see your friends. It was good to see some of your faces on our hangout this week, please remind your friends that weren’t online that they need to join our hangout lessons!!!

    These are challenging times, but together we can make the most of the situation and help each other navigate this lockdown period! Keep safe and enjoy the activities in your at home learning journal that has been uploaded to Google Classroom. See you all on Friday for our Hangout!

    Success Criteria: I have learnt to juggle and can identify what helps me and my whanau in ensuring we look after our HAUORA / WELLBEING

    Activities:

    1. Read pages 1 - 7 of your at home learning journal

    2. Complete the activities on slides 5, 7 and 22

    Homework:

    1. Watch tutorial on juggling, link to video is in the slide and try and juggle with at least 2 balls for 30 seconds straight! If you can already do this, they time how long you can juggle before a ball/ sock falls. Or even try and juggle between 2 people, ask a sibling, parent or guardian to join you! This must be done before Friday’s lesson (17 April)

    2. Complete slides 5 and 22 by the start of our lesson on Monday 20 April!

    1. We are going to be exploring our current level of fitness in 7 different tests! Record your results of the google doc which is your own personal fitness log. This can be found on the google classroom! (Only you and I will be able to see your results, progress and pictures)

    • How long can you hold a plank for?

    Speed: Speed is the ability to move quickly across the ground or move limbs rapidly to grab or throw.

    Agility: Agility is the ability to move and change direction and position of the body quickly and effectively while under control. 

    Session 1: Monday 4 May

    Task 1: 

    For this session you need a timer which you set for 20 mins. You then can use the online dice. Whatever number comes up you complete that exercise.     Task 2: 

    This task is to focus on our words of the week speed. Watch the video and then try and complete each of the drills once. I don't have cones at my house so when I did it I used shoes for my cones and it worked well!!

    Session 2: Thursday 7 May

    We continue to focus on improving our speed and agility. 

    Task 1:  Please look at the Hauora/ well-being slides

    Task 2:  Complete the Pyramid workout. You need to select which level you are at and complete the pyramid at that level. Let me know if you are unsure about any of the exercises.


    Task 3: This task focuses on improving your agility. It is important to push yourself to go as hard as you can in this task. Complete it twice and see if you can improve your time the second time through. Again, when I did this task I used shoes as my cones.

    Session 3: Friday 8 May

    Try and see if you can improve on your form from Tuesday’s session!

    Session 1: Monday 11 May 

    We are focusing on improving our strength, power and overall fitness

    PLEASE REMEMBER TO FILL IN YOUR FITNESS AND WELL-BEING LOGS ON GOOGLE CLASSROOM

    Task 1: Join the compulsory Google Meet at 12:00 (you have been sent a calendar invitation - please accept it!)

    Task 2:

    For this session we will complete this body combat class. Open this up on your computer and follow through the class. It is a great way to get your heart rate up and good fun.

    Session 2: Thursday 14 May

    We are focusing on improving our power and strength.

    Task 1: Today’s session is all about getting abs of steel! Complete the following exercises and choose the level that suits you. If you are at level one complete 4 sets of each exercise, level two complete 6 and level three complete 8 sets of each exercise.


    Task 2: This task is to focus on our words of the week strength.

    Arm wrestling!! For task two you need to go and get someone in your family to have an arm wrestle with you. This can be one of your parents or siblings just ensure they are from your bubble. Do the best of three! See how your strength goes. 

    Task 3: 

    1. How many press ups can you do in 60 seconds?

    2. How many sit ups can you do in 60 seconds?

    3. How long can you hold a plank for?

    Session 3: Friday 15 May

    Task 1: This task is to focus on our word of the week power 

    How far can you do a standing board jump. You need to place your feet shoulder width apart. Use your arms to start creating momentum by swinging them back and forward. Squat down and try and jump as far as possible landing on two feet. Repeat this x5. See if you can get a bit further each time.

    Task 2: This task is to focus on our word of the week overall fitness

    1. How long can I do a wall sit for?

    2. How flexible are you?Can you touch your toes?

    3. How fast can you run 10m?

    4. How fast can I run 1km? Measure out a 1km loop run in your neighbourhood.

    Kia ora 7C1, welcome back to learning at school, I a sure you are all as excited as I am to be back and are ready to get back into the more familiar routine of school!

    Success Criteria: I can/have identified and set measurable goals for the remainder of the term with a focus on fitness, well-being and understanding how the human body moves and functions.  

    • We will consolidate on the work done during week 1 -5's online learning
    • We will complete the fitness testing (week 5)
    • We will complete activities with a focus on balance and coordination 
    • We will study human anatomy and psychology
