This week we will be making pinwheels using a scone recipe and you can choose whether you will make it sweet or savoury.

This week I hope you have completed the survey you started last week with your group. If you have not yet done so, you can ask students via email to give you feedback or ask family members in your house. Once you have determined your top 1 or 2 or even 3 products, choose a recipe for one and then and go on the countdown.co.nz website and try and work out how much one serve of that recipe would cost. I will upload a worksheet where you can record your work. You could make a copy of that document and share it with your group mates and you could all work together on it online. The purpose of this is to find out how much a serve would cost as we do not want it to be more than 1-2 dollars per serve. This is your task until after the holidays. please feel free to contact me and ask for help or guidance. Stay safe!

    HAPPY EASTER!

  • 13 April - 19 April

Kiaora and welcome to Week 1 of Term 2.

I have looked at Google Classroom and I am rather disappointed at the lack of work that is evident. Please do complete your surveys, within your bubbles and pick a snack food you would like to pursue (even if we will not sell it at the Basketball Games anymore). For the chosen snack food, find a recipe online and work out the cost. Please email me with any queries. Remember, you are working in a team, so spread the tasks out (eg. student A completes the survey with her bubble, Student B finds the recipe, Student A costs the first 5 ingredients, Student B the next 5 ingredients etc.... I will give you this week to catch up. Please email me any issues you may face ppriest@mhjc.school.nz

Let's do a quick google meet chat on Thursday, 16th April at 9.30am, here is the link

    PLAN & DO / WHAKAMAHI

PLAN & DO / WHAKAMAHI learning intentions:

    • We are PLANNING... what recipe to choose so that we can...price the cost of it
  • 20 April - 26 April

Kia ora and welcome to Week 2 of Term 2!

We will be "parking" our "Selling at Basketball Game" task and will come back to it once schools are fully back.

Our new topic will be Food Packaging. You will find all lessons on Google Classroom (code is 4tch7al).

Here are some points to note:

    • These lessons cover the content for most of Term 2

    • The slides are divided into lessons to give you guidance and help you with time management

    • There are 10 lessons in total. You have 2 lessons per week on your timetable.  The last lesson leads you into the assessment which requires research and completing independent work.

    • So the next 5 weeks is guided by slides and then it requires you to complete the assessment task.

    • The Worksheets often ask you to record your thoughts or opinions. Don’t be afraid to share as it will not be marked as right or wrong. It is your opinion and your thought, so it cannot be wrong (I hope this makes sense). It is mainly to help us teachers work out whether you have completed the tasks or need help.

    • There are several choices and options throughout the slides but I want to encourage you to try and pick one type of packaging and follow this through as it will help your assessment.

    • For example if you watch the manufacture of glass, I would then stick with glass.
    • Do not watch the manufacture of glass and then research the recycling of aluminium. It will make it harder for you to complete the assessment at the end.
    • If you are unsure at any stage, email your teacher and ask for help :)
