Hi everyone!
In Weeks 2 and 3, we will be working on designing our Visual Art cover pages.
-
Hi everyone,
From Week 4, I will introduce a new task which ties in with Water Whānau context: Safety in NZ and beyond. We will be looking into a range different safety signs which will lead us into creating our own version, in the style of POP ART. We will be referencing artist models Roy Lichenstein and Andy Warhol's characteristics into our own safety sign painting.
-
Hi everyone!
From this week, we will begin painting our POP ART designs.
-
We will continue painting our sections. Every session we are painting, out focus is to:
1) Paint thin layers at a time with precision, this means taking your time and holding the brush close to the bristles as possible. There are many students who are holding their brush towards the end of the brush, which results in loss of steady control.
2) Remember, always begin painting the lightest coloured paint and work your way to the darkest! If you paint over the line using light coloured paint, you can always go over the light colour using a darker colour. However, once you apply a dark colour over where you light colour should be, this will not be fixable.

Kia Ora Maunga students,
Welcome to Art- Term 2.
Based on the context for Maunga whānau for the Year 8 students in Term 2, in Visual Art we will be looking into the OLYMPICS.
We are going to produce a Mixed media artwork of an A3 Olympic torch. This project will require the use of various dry and wet media to create a personalised Olympics torch design. Students will incorporate patterns, symbols, and imagery that serve as a visual representation of the students' identities. -

Hi everyone!
As I mentioned last week, from this week (Wk 3) we will begin our assessment. Our assessment will connect with the Coast Whānau context for this Term. You will be producing a painting of a seedling, inspired by New Zealand artist Shane Cotton.
Why a seedling? The Paris 2024 Olympic committee is emphasizing “more local, more plant based food” for the games this year. For this reason, we will be using a seedling as our main subject matter for our paintings.
-
Hello Y8 artists,
This week, we will finish off the backgrounds of our final paintings and will continue practicing painting.

Kia Ora Y8 artists,
The context for Forest Whānau in Term 4 is Around the world in 80 days. In Visual Art this Term, you will produce a painting which visually represents the merging of WEST and EAST, by integrating concepts from a Japanese artist with those of a New Zealand artist. Your artwork will symbolise the contrast between two polar opposites.
