    EXPLORE / TŪHURA learning intentions:

    • We are EXPLORING... the context 'our way and us' by discovering who we are by researching our own whakapapa through collaboration with ourselves and others.
    • To understand the concepts of identity and culture and how they are related, and to recognize the impact of identity and culture on individuals and society.
    TERM ONE:

     Relationship with other People
    Personal Identity

    Students will: 
    Describe how social messages and stereotypes, including those in the media, can affect feelings of selfworth.

    Personal Health and Physical Development 

    Identity, Sensitivity and Respect. 
    Students will: 
    Recognise instances of discrimination and act responsibly to support their own rights and feelings and those of other people.

    • What does our place mean?  How can WE (as people) make a place our own?  Think about our behaviours/actions/interactions with others.
    • Lets set a social responsibility goal for ourselves (after learning about the model)

    Reflecting back on Hellison's Social Responsibility Model

    Success Criteria: I can/have...

    • Understand what social responsibility means 
    • Demonstrate an understanding of social responsibility in both a Health and Practical session. 

    Activities this week: 

    MONDAY - PRACTICAL   We will be outside on rugby field.

    Today we will continue to work to be respectful as the first level of social responsibility. 

    We will do this through playing Capture the Flag

    WEDNESDAY  - PRACTICAL  - WHĀNAU DAY OUT 

    FRIDAY ( HEA) - STUDENT LED CONFERENCE

    • Lets set a social responsibility goal for ourselves (after learning about the model)

    We will review the expectations for the year and begin our learning.

    1.) What does social responsibility mean?  - Social responsibility is an ethical theory in which individuals are accountable for fulfilling their civic duty, and the actions of an individual must benefit the whole of society.

    2.) Think of our day to day life.  What actions do we do that benefit the whole of society?  Think/Pair/Share

    3.) There are many social responsibility models.  We will focus on >  Hellison's Social Responsibility Model.  We will break it down in our books.

    4.) You will then create a SMART goal for yourself regarding how 'socially responsible' you would like to work to be. This is on your google classroom.

    WEDNESDAY  - PRACTICAL  - We are in the Gym 

    Today, we will continue with our Ball Tag game as a warm up, as you will be more familiar with the rules and movements that we should get through this quicker. You will then apply that in a game of Kickball. 

    FRIDAY ( HEA) Today we will spend in class.  

    We will review the expectations for the year and begin our learning.

    1.) What does social responsibility mean?  - Social responsibility is an ethical theory in which individuals are accountable for fulfilling their civic duty, and the actions of an individual must benefit the whole of society.

    2.) Think of our day to day life.  What actions do we do that benefit the whole of society?  Think/Pair/Share

    We will do this through playing Long Ball that relies heavily on Teamwork. 

    WEDNESDAY  - PRACTICAL  - We are in the Gym 

    Today, we will continue with our Ball Tag game as a warm up, as you will be more familiar with the rules and movements that we should get through this quicker. You will then apply that in a game of Longball, which has similar rules to Kickball but using a cricket bat and a tennis ball.  

    FRIDAY ( HEA) Today we will spend in class.  

    We will review the expectations for the year and begin our learning.

    1.) What does social responsibility mean?  - Social responsibility is an ethical theory in which individuals are accountable for fulfilling their civic duty, and the actions of an individual must benefit the whole of society.

    WEDNESDAY  - PRACTICAL  - We are in the Gym 

    Today, we will continue with our Ball Tag game as a warm up, as you will be more familiar with the rules and movements that we should get through this quicker. You will then apply that in a game of Cones which has similar rules to Benchball. I will go in depth with the rules in class.

    Bring your full PE gear. 

    FRIDAY ( HEA) Today we will spend in class.  

    You will continue with writing out your SMART goals. 

    1. Does your goal include all aspects of SMART? 

    2. What is your goal specific for? 

    3. Is it detailed enough for you to understand and put into action? 

    I will be proof reading your goals in class. You will need to write out a plan that will help you achieve your goals.

    Today, we will continue with our Ball Tag game as a warm up, as you will be more familiar with the rules and movements that we should get through this quicker. You will then apply that in a game of Tchouckball which has similar rules to Benchball. I will go in depth with the rules in class.

    Bring your full PE gear.
