Hi everyone!
In Weeks 2 and 3, we will be working on designing our Visual Art cover pages.

From Week 4, we will be introduced to tonal value and learn how to successfully apply tonal modelling using dry media (pencil). -

Tūrangawaewae painting project
Hi everyone, from this week, we will begin our first Painting Unit, which is called the Tūrangawaewae painting project.
We will begin by preparing the ground + producing planning drawing on Tuesday.

Tūrangawaewae painting project
We are continuing with our Tūrangawaewae painting project.
This week, we are focusing on working on painting 5 different backgrounds of our painting and transferring our final concept idea onto our backgrounds.

Tūrangawaewae painting project
From this week (Wk 8) until the end of Term 1, we will continue with our Tūrangawaewae painting project.
From this week until WEEK 11, we will be painting our sections. It is important to be constantly referring to an image reference when painting, as this will ensure you are accurately capturing every detail and texture of your chosen subject matter.

Kia Ora Year 10 Art students!
Here is our focus for Week 1 through to Week 3. We will spend time refining our Tūrangawaewae painting project, in preparation for the final submission on Friday Week 3. Remember, as part of the assessment you will submit your concept design drawing as well as your final painting.
I will include the assessment criteria so you can see what it looks like to be 'working towards', 'working at', 'working above' and 'working beyond'.
I can't wait to see all your beautifully completed paintings! :)

Hello Year 10 artists :)
This week, we will take a break from painting, take a break from working on an assessment and spend a couple of sessions to create a oil pastel drawing (inspired by Vincent Van Gogh).Our focus is to be introduced to a new artist model, a new painting technique and to build our skill in 'recording information' with accuracy.

From this week, we will begin creating a 3D sculptural piece, inspired by NZ artist Lonnie Hutchinson. -
Hi Year 10 artists,
This week, we will continue with our paper sculpture inspired by artist model Lonnie Hutchinson. We will finalise our draft design and make a start on transferring the design onto our final black cartridge paper :)

- We are FOCUSING... on selecting and refining symbols/patterns to create a sculpture
- We are FOCUSING...
EXPLORE / TŪHURA learning intentions:
- We are EXPLORING... by researching Lonnie Hutchinson's style of artwork.
- We are EXPLORING... paper cutting by experimenting with stencil creations, using scalpel.
- We are EXPLORING... measuring in order to create precise placement of symbols/patterns onto paper sculpture.

From this week, we will begin our last assessment of the year. I look forward to working on this assessment with you all, as I personally love this unit! -

As the teacher was absent last session, we will begin GRID #1 from Tuesday (W4). Remember, we will aim to work on each grid for 1 week before moving on to the next one.

This week, we will begin our second block, which is inspired by artist model Vincent Van Gogh. His technique will now be familiar to you all and I look forward to seeing all your Van Gogh inspired blocks! :)

This week, we will get started on our last block! (Block #6). For this block you will combine any techniques of your choice, techniques which you demonstrated across block #1~ block #5. All your works are looking incredible, I am extremely proud of you all. I look forward to seeing your final submissions! Ka mau te wehi! :)

We have made it, we have reached the last week of Term 3! This week, we will continue working on BLOCK #6. Once you have completed BLOCK #6, work on any incomplete blocks. Remember, this Hei Matau painting is due on Tuesday, Week 2- Term 4. I CANNOT WAIT to see all your beautifully completed paintings :)

Kia Ora Year 10 artists!
Welcome back everyone, we have now entered the final term of the year! :) In Week 1 + 2, you will continue making final touch ups on your Hei Matau paintings and submit on TUESDAY, WEEK 3.

This week (Tuesday) you will submit your Hei Matau paintings (How exciting). You will spend the lesson on Tuesday making final touch ups and will submit your work before the end of session.

Kia ora koutou!
We have now completed all assessment for the year :) From this week until Week 9, we will work on a task called 'Complete & Take home'. You will work on any incomplete artworks from throughout the year and will take it home with you. It will be the last artwork you take home, as you finish your journey at MHJC.
Keep in mind that after this week, we only have ONE session per week.
