    Kia Ora!

    Welcome to our first proper week back at school.  I hope you have all been able to settle in and weren't too affected by the weather or floods.

    We will spend our first few sessions playing a range of ice breakers and games to help us get to know each other.  As we all come from different whanau it can feel a bit awkward.

    A range of these activities include:

    Name games, bang, Trust activities, Blind Keys, Ninja Warrior, Laser beams, charades, whiz, cowboys, vikings, sitting circle, evolution, clap alphabet, musical chairs, stop/go, find the squees, pass the clap, ground tapping, helium hoops, possum in a tree, and more!

      - Appropriate Communication, Patience and Tolerance, Support and Encouragement
    2. P.E.: Range of games and activities to practice and demonstrate our interpersonal skills.
      - Red light/green light, class challenge benchball

    Activities:

    1. Select two interpersonal skills, Demonstrate them during P.E, think of and remember specific examples of what was said and what was done.
    2. In Health - Learn the paragraph template and write about your two specific examples
    3. This is practice for your P.E. assessment coming up on the 30th for Goat Island

    • We are FOCUSING on demonstrating our interpersonal skills
    • We are FOCUSING on a snorkelling trip at Goat Island - appreciating our natural Taonga
    • We are FOCUSING on using those interpersonal skills whilst participating in an outdoor activity - Goat Island

    Welcome back to term 2.

    We will be joining the context this term with a look into certain body systems.
    And Biomechanics - How our boy moves - Learning Bones, Muscles, Joints and Movements.

    Success Criteria: I can/have...

    • naming bones and understanding the function of the skeleton
    • Participate in boot camp style lessons - resistance and cardio training

    Activities:

    1. Learning about the skeleton and naming bones 
      - how many bones do we have, what are the 5 main functions of the skeleton, 
    2. AMRAP - as many rounds as possible, OMEM - On the Minute, Every Minute, Circuit, Pyramid = All different styles of training we will use.

    1. Re-covering all muscles, bones, movements and joints
    2. Focussing on muscles working in pairs and learning what the agonist and antagonist muscles do
    3. Apply this to a movement - which muscle is responsible for the movement, and which muscle relaxes to allow movement to happen
    4. Cross country training

    Activities:

    1. Listen to myth of Rahi
    2. Learned the different aspects of playing Ki Oma or Taniwha
    3. Played a modified game, focussing on Taniwha jobs - defence and branding the Tupu
    4. In puberty brainstorm the changes that occur for both genders, the just girls and just boys

  • 31 July - 6 August

    I am away at OPC this week,  So you you will have a reliever.

    Please help them with gear and games.

    You will be playing a mixture of benchball, multisport, capture the flag etc

    You will have P.E. for all three classes, Two health lessons next week.

    1. Learned the different aspects of playing Ki Oma or Taniwha
    2. Played a modified game, focussing on Ki Oma jobs - Attacking the Pou and scoring tries
    3. Identify the major hormones that triggers puberty, look and what changes occur. 
    4. Understand the purpose of those changes

    1. Playing a full game - both Taniwha and Ki Oma playing - working out strategies and key players.  As a class planning strategy to compete against the other year 9's
    2. Completing vocab list, understanding consent 
    3. Short videos - demonstrating some clear examples

    2. Combining processes of ovulation and ejaculation.  
    3. Looking at the journey of the sperm cell to the ova. 
    4. Looking at a fertilised egg and how that develops into a baby
