    Kia Ora!

    Welcome to our first proper week back at school.  I hope you have all been able to settle in and weren't too affected by the weather or floods.

    We will spend our first few sessions playing a range of ice breakers and games to help us get to know each other.  As we all come from different whanau it can feel a bit awkward.

    A range of these activities include:

    Name games, bang, Trust activities, Blind Keys, Ninja Warrior, Laser beams, charades, whiz, cowboys, vikings, sitting circle, evolution, clap alphabet, musical chairs, stop/go, find the squees, pass the clap, ground tapping, helium hoops, possum in a tree, and more!

    Success Criteria: I can/have...

    • Put Body Techniques into a mime
    • Understand how facial expression, gesture and Posture can enhance a performance

    Activities:

    1. Recover Body techniques  - Gesture, Posture and facial expression
    2. In groups rehearse a skit - either in a school or a shop where something goes wrong
    3. Perform to class
    4. Give feedback on the other group - what could be improved, what was good, could you identify the plot and characters

  • 27 March - 2 April

    Kia ora...

    Success Criteria: I can/have...

    • Put Voice and Body Techniques into a skit
    • Understand how voice, facial expression, gesture and Posture can enhance a performance

    Activities:

    1. Tuesday:  Recover Voice techniques  - Pitch, Pace, Tone, Breath, Accent, Inflection, Pause, Pronunciation and Projection
    2. Tongue Twisters - working on pronunciation and annunciation  
    3. Thursday:   In groups rehearse a skit - You are at a sports event - you may chose the sport and what is 
    4. Perform to class
    5. Give feedback on the other group - what could be improved, what was good, could you identify the plot and characters - was there good projection and tone, were they believable?


  • 3 April - 9 April

    Begin going over our assessment!

    Examine a range of scripts and decide if you wish to perform as a duologue - with a partner, or as a duologue - solo.

    Select your script and get a photocopy to take home for the holidays to learn and read. 

    When you come back next term, you will need to have learnt/memorised at least your first few lines, and be very familiar with your story.

    We will be focussing on learning and rehearsing our Monologues/duologues for the first half of this term.  

    Success Criteria: I can/have...

    • Have approximately 1/2 of my script learnt and begin blocking my/our scene

    Activities:

    1.  Make decisions around set, props and costume
    2.  Revise lines - rule of 3, invisible action, look up/look left, say it stupid - all methods to help you remember your lines

    Activities:

    1.  Make decisions around set, props and costume

    3. Rehearse the section you have learnt - and make decisions about your drama techniques.

                   - are you sarcastic, angry, scared, sad, annoyed, funny, playful etc - how will you let us hear that

    Performance Week!!!!

    You will be drawn from a hat - for random order

    You will have 15 mins at the start of the session to get into costume, gather props and set and rehearse

    We will complete all performances over 2 sessions

    This week will be used for any catch ups.

    Please note - if you are away/absent from your performance you must have a justifiable reason or a note from your doctor.

    If you do not provide one you can still perform, but you cannot earn higher than an At.  

    We will also play Werewolves, before beginning our new topic next week.

    4. Get put into assessment/performance groups
    5. As a groups vote on your favourite myths that your group would like to turn into a performance

    4. Start discussions around costumes and props that need to be brought in

    Activities:

    1. Get feedback from assessment
    2. Double check both results are online
    3. Explain masking and what we will be doing, and what gear you need to collect.
    4. Begin preparing and cutting up the masking materials.

    Homework:
    Brainstorming a character/image you would like to create as a mask

    Activities:

    1. Bring in gear you need - towel, headband, old t-shirt/clothes
    2. Finish preparing and cutting up the masking materials.  
    3. Watch a masking demonstration.

    Brainstorming a character/image you would like to create as a mask

    Activities:

    1. Select your partner - decide who is first
    2. Walk partner through your design and what is needed
    3. Pay attention to what your partner requires so you can do a good job.  
    4. Begin masking the first person in your pair 
    5. Clean up

    Homework:
    Bring in any accessories you might need.

    2. Walk partner through your design and what is needed
    3. Pay attention to what your partner requires so you can do a good job.
