    Welcome to Fashion and Design.

    My name is Mrs Hewlett and I am excited to be leading your learning journey in Fashion and Design this year. 

    We have our Learning Intentions on MHO but all our activities will be on Google Classroom. There will be work that needs doing at home so that you can use the lessons at school for making stuff.

    • We are EXPLORING what soft materials and textiles are by identifying different types of soft materials and textiles in our daily lives.
    • We are EXPLORING safety when working in the Fabric Technology room and when working with equipment and tools by identifying the correct safety procedures. 
    • We are EXPLORING how to use safely and correctly equipment and tools by demonstrating how to use the sewing machine and tools to construct a Phone or ipad plop.
    • We are EXPLORING how to use the correct technique for making a plain seam by demonstrating that i can thread the machine top and bottom and sew a straight stitch and zig zag..

    • This week our focus is getting our bags finished and onto our boxers. So we will have a mixture of things happening in class. Introducing processes related to making Boxers.

    • We welcome Ms Al Darkazly (Ms A) to her week 2 with our class.

    • This week our focus is starting on our Sleepwear Challenge - making some boxers with a matching top.

    • Some students will be still sewing their bags - get these finished this week if possible so you can focus on the new learning related to boxers.PLAN & DO /Making

        • We are EXPLORING different types of boxers to get ideas to personalise our boxers

        • We are EXPLORING measurements, patterns and pattern symbols so that we can find the right pattern size and place the pattern on the fabric and cut it out correctly.

    Success Criteria:
    I can/ i have constructed my bag following the instructions on GC.
    I can/ Ihave explored different styles of boxers and completed the activities in the journal
    I can/have explored how to take measurements and have taken my own
    I can/have chosen the correct pattern size and placed it on the fabric correctly and cut this out
