  • Term 1 Week 1

    Hi Everyone

I am really excited to work with you all this term.

The context for your start to the year in Coast Whanau is all about 'Our Place' and 'Connections'

Therefore we are going to create a mixed media piece of art that connects you to the place around you using photos, wool, wire and any other grrovy thing we can find to weave into our creation.

If you can imagine something like this with photos added then we are getting closer to what we will create.  I hope you enjoy the process to learn and try out some new type of art making.

  • Term 2 Week 1

    Kia Ora Everyone

Mrs Newbold and Mr Choong are really excited to work with you all this term.

The context for your Term 2 in Forest / Ngahere Whanau is all about 'New Beginnings - Matariki'.

Therefore we are going to create a creative piece of art that showcase your exploration of a range of Maori Kowhaiwhai patterns using a range of different painting materials and techniques.

The koru shape is the main feature in the Maori culture that symbolizes new beginnings as this is where and how each the new fern frond unspirals and sprouts. There are more shapes and meaning we will explore too… The koru is just where we embark on this journey.  I hope you enjoy the process to learn and try out some new and traditional types of art designs.

    Kia Ora, Akonga

Today we looked at a brief history of some colour theories and the colour wheel.  I have attached the YouTube videos for you to review at home if you need to.  Good luck creating your one-page Colour Anchor Chart in your art book, and have it completed and ready to show the class by next Wednesday.  We can't wait to see your creative and stunning work~!😉

    Kind regards

    Ms Newbold & Mr Choong
