    I hope you enjoyed your first three Technology Sessions.

    For Fabric Technology, we will continue working on sewing the face mask. I was so impressed by how well you have done so far! Please continue to use the guide on GC to help you with next steps and continue listening to instructions given in class.

    For Food Technology, we will continue to learn how to keep food safe in the kitchen. We will also have our first cooking class. I am looking forward to cooking with you on Wednesday.

    Kia ora Year 7s

    I hope you are excited about Week 4 of Term 1! Unfortunately we will only have 2 sessions this week because Thursday is SLC Day.

    For Fabric Technology, we will start decorating the face masks. You can use fabric crayons and fabric markers to do your designs. We will then iron them in order to ensure the decoration will not wash off. You can also continue working on completing the assessment.

    For Food Technology, we will continue to work on our "Safety in Food Handling" Research.  We will also be making some lolly truffles  on Wednesday.

    Kia ora Year 7s

    I hope you are excited about Week 5 of Term 1!

    For Fabric Technology, we finish decorating the face masks and finishing off attaching the elastic straps. We will need to iron the design on to ensure it has set and will not wash out. We will also revisit the assessment.

    For Food Technology, we are going to discuss food technology terms and definitions. We will test our knowledge afterwards by playing a Kahoot! We will also be learning how to grill chicken patties and enjoy some yummy chicken burgers.

    I hope you are excited about Week 6 of Term 1! This is your last week with your teacher before you swap with the other class.....the class who has done Food Tech will go to do Fabric Tech in M7 and the class who has done Fabric Tech will go and do Food Tech in W7. 

    For Fabric Technology, we will finish off any loose threads (haha get it?) and have some fun activities.

    For Food Technology, we are going test our food safety and knife safety knowledge. We will also be making some Pikelets during our last cooking session.

    Kia ora Year 7s

    This week will will be switching classes! We are very excited to meet our new class and we hope that you are going to enjoy fabric and food technology for the remaining of term 1. 

    For Fabric Technology, you will be completing some fun activities on GC on Wednesday. On Thursday you will be designing a face mask which represents your culture.

    For Food Technology, we are going to learn about kitchen safety and hygiene. After we have learned how to work safely and hygienically in the kitchen, we will be making some chicken burgers. Yummy!

    Kia ora...and welcome to Week 8 of Term 1.

    I hope you enjoyed your first few Technology Sessions with your new teacher.

    For Fabric Technology, we will start to sew! We will begin by going over Health and Safety in the Tech room, then look at the Technology Design Process and its purpose, then we review how to tie knots and watch some instructional videos. We will cut some fabric and if there is time left, we will thread the needles and begin to sew!

    For Food Technology, we will be looking at how to measure ingredients in the kitchen. We will also do some research on how to keep food safe. On Wednesday, we will be baking banana cupcakes!


    Success Criteria: I can/have...

    Fabric Technology:

    • an understanding of safety requirements in the fabrics classroom
    • an understanding of the Technology Design Process
