      'THE GREAT OUTDOORS' Trip to Omana Regional Park - Orienteering

    Welcome back to Mountains whanau, I hope you have all had a wonderful and restful break and are ready to learn, have fun and grow!

    This term we will be focusing on the context:  The Great Outdoors this will involve getting out and about and enjoying the outdoors through orienteering, cycling, swimming and a number of team building activities and games! We are collaborating with Ms Katafono for Science :)

    I'm really looking forward to getting to know you all a bit better this year.

    A reminder that we will have our P.E. sessions every Monday, Wednesday and Friday - please remember your PE gear, hat and water bottle (these are compulsory).  Our Health sessions will be finalised in week 2 (please bring your health book)

    * Monday: HEALTH lesson. In this lesson we will be examining how nutrition can affect our performance in POWER events/sports 

    * Wednesday: Strength/POWER circuit. This will be a practical lesson focusing on a circuit that aims to build power. This circuit will contain elements of horizontal leaps and explosive movement in shuttle sprints

    * Friday: Mr. Groenwald's Yr 9s: For this session Mr. Groenwald's year 9's will lead the lesson for the final part of their assignments. They will present you with a game, explain the rules and effectively be the teachers for the lesson

We will cap every training session off with a game at the end to put into practice what we've learned
