    Kia ora and welcome to Y10 Hospitality. 

    My name is Mrs Priest and I will be your teacher this year. I am excited to get to know you all. A little bit about myself...I was born in Germany, have 3 kids, have studied Food Technology, Health & Safety and Business and lastly Teaching at Massey University, have worked in the Food Industry for over a decade before starting to teach.

    This week will be about getting to know each other and the food room.

    Kia ora...and welcome to Week 3 of Term 1.

    This week, on Monday, we will be completing our first practical lesson. We will be baking Anzac Biscuits.

    On Wednesday we will be revising the correct technique to wash dishes, measuring ingredients as well as food hygiene and storage.

    Kia ora and welcome to Week 4 of Term 1. This week we are making sushi on Monday and we are learning how to work out Food Cost and Total Cost of a food products on Wednesday.

    - I have attempted all calculations and have an understanding of how to calculate food costs of a recipe.

We will also compile a list of snack foods your group is interested in making and survey other classmates to check how popular these ideas would be

    On Monday we will be making fried rice as our practical and on Wednesday I will check you have prepared your prototype recipe and completed Tasks 2 and 3 in the journal. I will also review and answer any questions in regards to marketing and advertising.

    Kia ora...and welcome to Week 9 of Term 1. I will only see you once this week as Monday is Teacher Only Day.

    On Wednesday you will have time to continue working on your marketing poster, the costing of your product, finalising and printing your prototype recipe ready for next Monday. You can also work on your assessment journal, and ensure it is up to date. On Monday of Week 10 you will be trialling the recipe.

    On Monday you will do your prototype food to check if the food, the recipe and the ingredients are suitable.

    On Wednesday you will have time to continue working on your marketing poster, the costing of your product, finalising and modifying your recipe if you need to. You can also work on your assessment journal, and ensure it is up to date.

    Kia ora and welcome to Week 11 of Term 1.

    On Monday we will be making Nachos and on Wednesday you will continue with your assessment work.

    The plan for Term 2 is that you will get one more session to practise your recipe, then we will plan a day to sell your products, hopefully Week 2 or 3. Once the sale is completed, the assessment journal will be due a few days after.

    Kia ora...and welcome to Week 1 of Term 2! I hope you had a nice break.

    We will be selling our products either Wednesday 11th May or Wednesday 18th May and the assessment will be due on  Friday 20th May.

    On Monday you can practise your chosen recipe one more time and on Wednesday it will be your last chance to finish the advertising posters, costing, work in your assessment journal etc. Next week we might start our new topic which is Coffee.

    This week we will be starting a new topic. Coffee! We have a coffee machine and will learn how to be mini baristas! Exciting!

    On Wednesday we will be making hot chocolates and steaming milk as we practised last week.

    Monday is a public holiday so I will not be seeing you. On Wednesday we will be reviewing the worksheets you were supposed to have been working on while the rest of the class made hot chocolate last week. Then we will look at whether coffee is good or bad for your health.
