Weekly outline

  • Overview

    Hi Everyone

    Welcome to art this year.

To kick off the term we will be focusing on our drawing and painting skills to learn a variety of pencil, pen and paint techniques.  You must keep all of your working drawings as these will be moderated to give you a best fit grade for your drawing ability.

I'm really looking forward to working with you all.

The students will research the uses of kites in past Maori life and what they were made from.  Using this knowledge the students will then design and create their own version of a manu tukutuku for decorative display purposes.  As well as the research component, skills and techniques is assembly and decoration will also be assessed.

During the year you have had the opportunity to practise your drawing skills using a variety of mediums such as pencil, pen and paint.  For this assessment you will be evaluated on your ability to draw accurately and to show accurate shading.

The use of techniques with each medium will be assessed and an overall best fit assessment grade will be awarded. All of the evidence for this assessment will be evident in your Visual Art diary.
