Kia ora, this week & a half is going to be our last focus on Ancient Greece/the Olympics - how did the Ancient Greek society work? Were the Ancient Olympics an economic boom compared to the Olympics today? And what exactly are the Olympics today - where did they originate from, and what is their impact? Why do countries want to host the Olympics? We will come back to the Olympics later on in the term after we look at the tourist economy, something the Olympics is deeply intertwined in.
Success Criteria: I can/have...
- I can explain the relevance of the Greek Olympics to the Ancient Greeks and what it meant to them, defining concepts like honour and whether the Olympics were as economically relevant to them as the modern Olympics are today
- I can analyse both the origins of the modern Olympics and some of the pros and cons surrounding them
