EXPLORE / TŪHURA learning intentions:

• We are EXPLORING...volcanoes, including their formation, types, and eruption mechanisms through experimenting, modelling and researching so we can understand the makeup of the earth's geosphere
• We are EXPLORING...the impact of volcanic eruptions on the environment and the necessary safety measures needed to use them as a recreational space.

Plan for the 2 weeks is as follows: 

Monday: TOD 

Tuesday: Waitangi Day 

Thursday: Lab safety refresher, title page and intro into our context ( brainstorming what you know ) 

Week 3: 

Monday: Research on our local maunga in Tāmaki Makaurau and volcanoes. Understanding Te reo names and what the mean ( why they are called that) , any facts, type of volcanoes they are

Tuesday:  Presentation in your groups on your chosen local volcano, Intro into inner core of Earth. Egg model experiment 

Thursday: Inner core art project create and label your model
