For investigators, solving a murder often involves knowing as much as possible about the murder in question.

After finding out all of the information/concrete details surrounding the murder, one of the many things to consider in paring down the list of possible suspects is to figure out the killer's motive. Knowing not only the possible motivation but also the concrete details of the crime are essential to creating a suspect profile.

First, you'll need to gather all of your information together to re-examine each of the crime scenes. Additionally, you'll need to determine similarities and differences between all of the cases. If pieces are missing, you may have to dig into the various sources of information for the victims.

Then, you'll need to develop a Suspect Profile for Jack the Ripper. Using what you know about the victims as well as the different crime scenes, think about each of those pieces as part of a much bigger puzzle. The readings that you have covered thus far as well as the basic components that go into a Suspect Profile should help you take those pieces of information and shift them around.

Basic Components to think about:

Probable AGE of suspect,
Probable SEX of suspect,
Probable: left/right HANDED
Probable RESIDENCE of suspect,
What INTELLIGENCE level the suspect is operating at,
The probable OCCUPATION of suspect,
The probable MARITAL STATUS of suspect,
The probable LIVING ARRANGEMENTS of suspect,
The suspect's probable MOTIVATING FACTORS,
The probable ARREST RECORD of the suspect,
What PROVOCATION FACTORS might drive the suspect out
