    TERM 2   WEEK 4

We are starting the wonder project this week which will take us on a journey to explore and understand how rockets fly! So, it is back to the future with making and launching rockets!!

    Success Criteria: I can/have...

    • Identify contact and non-contact forces
    • Explain how the force of friction works
    • Recognise that gravity is a force (A pull)
    • Identify the relation between mass, weight and gravity

    Activities:

    1. Recap of forces and motion - Watch video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5-2NLHB4Gxg
    2. EP Task on contact and non-contact forces
    3. List the Contact and Non-contact Forces from the video in your Science books
    4. Attempt worksheet - Forces and motion in your Science books
    5. Forces Quiz - https://www.educationquizzes.com/ks2/science/forces-01/
    6. Class discussion on what is the force of friction and how does it work
    7. Investigate the question - what type of road surfaces would be safest in wet conditions - Explain your answer
    8. What is gravity - Students come up with own definition
    9. Conduct an experiment to show the relation between mass, weight and gravity

    Homework:

    Complete class tasks and EP

    EXPLORE / TŪHURA

    EXPLORE / TŪHURA learning intentions:

    • We are EXPLORING the concept of force.
    • We are EXPLORING the forces of friction and gravity by conducting simple experiments.
    • We are EXPLORING how to organise a crew and collaborate to understand roles and responsibilities in order to accomplish a mission.
