    We are going to start exploring the scientific method and how it is and has been used to develop theories and ideas based on experiments and analysis of results.

    Success Criteria: I can/have...

    • Name the steps in the scientific method
    • State what each step of the scientific method is
    • Identify independent, dependent and controlled variables


    Activities:

    1. Teacher to ask starter questions to get students thinking and draw on background knowledge of 'what does a plant need to grow?'
    2. Discussion on what sort of things can we measure about the plant or things that affect its growth?

    4. Go through the steps of the scientific method
    5. Copy scientific method steps in books
    6. What are independent, dependent and controlled variables? Teacher explanation  with examples
    7. Practice in identifying dependent, independent and controlled variables
