    EXPLORE / TŪHURA

    EXPLORE / TŪHURA learning intentions:

    • We are EXPLORING the relationship between DNA, chromosomes, alleles and genes and how these determine inheritance and variation in organisms.
    • We are EXPLORING DNA replication, mitosis and meiosis.

    Success Criteria: I can/have...

    • describe the basic process by which genetic information is passed from one generation to the next.
    • describe the role and importance of DNA.
    • complete Punnett squares in order to predict patterns of inheritance.
    • explain the processes of DNA replication, mitosis and meiosis using scientific language.

Activities: Any questions please email me.

    1. Word bank activity: write definitions or examples for the following words - genotype, phenotype, homozygous dominant, homozygous recessive, heterozygous.
    2. Mitosis and Meiosis: you will learn about these processes by completing the activities on Education Perfect. They are: DNA replication, Mitosis, Gametes & Fertilisation, Meiosis, Mitosis vs Meiosis. On Google Classroom I have also posted 3 Amoeba Sister videos: Mitosis vs Meiosis, Mitosis, Meiosis.
    3. Use this screenshot from Education Perfect as a guide to what you should know about mitosis and meiosis.
