    This week we focus on our new context "Hikoi Aotearoa" or walk NZ.


    Learning Intentions: We are learning to (WALT)...

    • Show an increasing understanding of how texts are shaped for different purposes and audiences.
    • select and read texts for enjoyment and personal fulfilment

    Success Criteria: I can/have...

    • monitor, describe my progress, and articulate my learning with confidence
    • use a prescribed document and choose according to my interests and track my reading using google classroom tools
    • read the first few chapters of the text and talk about it in your literacy circle groups

    You have chosen a novel from the library that is SET in a NZ place.

    Monday S1: set up a NEW google doc in your ENGLISH folder and call it HIKOI AOTEAROA

    1. type the name of the novel, the author and the place your book takes place in.

    2. find 3 small pictures online about your book and the place in NZ that it is about

    3. Write 3 sentences about the place in NZ where your book is set. -you can research facts about your place online

    4. Write a paragraph telling what happens at the beginning of your book (8 sentences) - who are the characters you have met, how does the story begin, what are your thoughts so far...

    5. Read some more of your novel :o)
