Welcome to week 5! And a new context for learning! WAI & KAI.

We begin to explore our new context "WAI AND KAI" - Wai means Water and Kai means Food - so we are looking at food that comes from the sea and issues around it. In Science you will be looking at some issues and in English you will be creating a STATIC IMAGE about one of the things you are learning in Science.

Over the next 5 weeks we will work together on the following...

    Success Criteria: I can/have...

    • identify the elements that make up a static image
    • present a static image using appropriate layout
    • show an awareness of purpose and audience in a number of static images and transfer them to our learning context "WAI AND KAI"
    • written S.E.X.Y paragraphs about 3 elements over the next 3 weeks to show understanding of the make up of a static image

    Activities:

    1. Monday S1: What is a STATIC IMAGE? watch the introductory slide show on google classroom and complete the google doc all about static images.
    2.  Find several static images at home or online and look for the elements of font, text, dominant image, colour and layout.
    3. Tuesday S1: google classroom tasks to follow and complete
    4. Friday S2: complete the google classroom documents (those that you can)

    What's ahead for you...

Design a static image -Introduction to Assessment 2, Term two.

    EXPLORE / TŪHURA

    EXPLORE / TŪHURA learning intentions:

    • We are EXPLORING how to interpret and organise a static image to display information.
    • We are EXPLORING connections between fiction and real life to empathise with and understand the characters and the actions they take in novels.
    • We are EXPLORING questions around 'Kai from the Wai' from our reading and writing to discover if there are common strategies to protect sea life.
