  • Te Wiki o te Reo Māori 

    Kia ora 7C1. This week we celebrate te reo Māori! 

    Get involved in the activities planned this week and have fun learning one of the official of languages Aotearoa!


    PLAN & DO / WHAKAMAHI

    PLAN & DO / WHAKAMAHI learning intentions:

    • We are learning some te reo Maori kupu every New Zealander should know. 
    • We are PLANNINGpractising and presenting an act which incorporates te reo Maori kupu.


    Success Criteria: I can/have...

    • learnt some te reo Maori kupu
    • used some te reo Maori kupu in my act.

    Activities:

    1. Use https://nzhistory.govt.nz/culture/maori-language-week/100-maori-words  and https://hereoora.tki.org.nz/Teachers-notes/Useful-language-for-the-classroomto learn some te reo Maori kupu. (20 minutes)

    2. Get into groups. Lucky dip an act and prepare a quick skit (15 minutes)
    3. Practise and perform.

    Write a letter/email of thanks to a family member/teacher/classmate(Mrs Narayan will have to approve of the letter before you send) You letter must have te reo Maori kupu.
