    EXPLORE / TŪHURA learning intentions:

    • We are EXPLORING… to conceptualise a range of working strategies to solve multiplication and division problems.
    • We are EXPLORING… to simplify mathematical expressions or equations that involve algebraic variables.


    Success Criteria: Students can/have...

    • use chunking (place value partitioning) mental strategy to solve multiplication problems
    • solve division problems using basic fact knowledge; e.g. times table
    • mentally solve division problems using chunking strategy
    • use times table facts to solve division, in mentally chunking big dividend into small numbers
    • add and subtract like terms with variables in algebraic expression / equations
