    TERM 2    WEEK 7

    This week we are going to start learning about the steps of the scientific method. This learning is geared towards your Science Fair projects.


    Success Criteria: I can/have...

    • Name the steps in the scientific method
    • State what each step of the scientific method is
    • Identify independent variable, dependent variable and controlled variable/s


    Activities:

    1. Teacher asks starter questions to get students thinking and draw on background knowledge of 'what does a plant need to grow?'
    2. Discussion on what sort of things can we measure about the plant or things that affect its growth?
    3. Watch Brain Pop video on Scientific Method - https://www.brainpop.com/science/scientificinquiry/scientificmethod/
    4. Write down the steps of the Scientific Method in books
    5. Go back to video and identify the independent, dependent and controlled variable.
    6. Attempt activity for practice to identify independent, dependent and controlled variable.
    7. Practice writing hypothesis - Attempt PDF activity
