    Welcome to Term 2!

    I have set up a video meeting on google classroom and will invite you to join on Wednesday S2 at 10am during our English session :o)


    I hope you have had a restful time with your families - it is very challenging for everyone here in NZ and around the world. Please look after yourself as you begin to think about 'school work' again :o)

    The beginning of term 2 will be 'distance learning' for MHJC and that will require you to look here at your course page,  check your emails and also look at the 'follow up' tasks on google classroom. I want to keep it simple for all of you until I see you :o)

    Please feel free to email me as often as you need during the week ahead :o)

    Task 1:

    Fill in the shared google doc on google classroom all about the novel you are reading or have read over the holidays 

    Task 2:

    SESTINA POETRY (We have already practiced writing these about journeys)

    Write six lines about the novel you are reading or have read, each with only six words, using the following writing prompts: (do this on the google doc on google classroom)

    • The setting of the story (where it happens)
    • Something you remember about the story.
    • A person who was in the story.
    • A wonderful imagined thing that didn’t actually happen in the story

    • something  you liked about the book.  
    • Your own six word sentence about the book

    Task 3:

    What is a NOVEL - an Education Perfect 40 min task to embed novel reading  - it is posted on google classroom.

    REFLECT / WHAIWHAKAARO

    REFLECT / WHAIWHAKAARO learning intentions:

    • We are REFLECTING on the challenge of distance learning and what the barriers might be to completing the tasks and attending the GMeets
    • We are REFLECTING on a world wide pandemic, the implications for us in NZ and the way we can show empathy when we take part in MHJC tasks and meetings
